The California Department of Social Services (CDSS) welcomes you to Guardian, a new online portal for the submission and tracking of criminal background checks.



If this is your first visit to Guardian and you do not have a user account, please click on "Register as a new Guardian user". If you have previously created an account, please login with the email address you entered at the time of your Guardian user registration.

o Safari
